Lambright, Elmina J. Millers

MIDDLEBURY - Elmina J. Lambright, 60, of Middlebury, died Friday, August 18 [2017].
She was born April 29, 1957 to Jacob and Lena (Yoder) Miller.
On Sept. 29, 1977 she married Omer Dean Lambright, he survives.
Additional survivors include: four sons; six daughters; 20 grandchildren; her mother; five brothers; and six sisters.
She was preceded in death by a daughter; an infant son; grandson; father; and a brother-in-law.
Elmina was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation is all day Sunday, Aug. 20, at family’s residence, 11711 CR 20 Middlebury.
Funeral services are 9:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 21, at Mike Stolzfus’ residence, 11851 CR 20 Middlebury.
Services conducted by Bishop Robert Mullet and the home ministers.
Burial will be in Bontrager Cemetery, Middlebury.

Landes, Curtis H., 90 , of Franconia, PA died May 28, 2017 at Sellersville, Bucks Co., PA, due to congestive heart failure.
He was born April 14, 1927 at Franconia, Montgomery Co., PA to Titus N. and Carrie L. (Halteman) Landes. Titus was born March 4, 1899 and died October 3, 1980. Carrie was born April 22, 1901 and died April 11, 1983.
On June 12, 1948 he was married to Ruth M. Allebach, who was born April 30, 1928 and died February 13, 2009.
Surviving are children, David Landes and wife Gloria; Jane Leatherman and husband Arlin; Marlene Clemmer and husband Kenneth; and Lisa Yoder and husband Gary; ten grandchildren, 132 great-grandchildren.
A son, Curtis Alan Landes preceded him in death.
Memorial services were held June 5, 2017 at Franconia Mennonite Church, Telford, Montgomery Co., PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Landis, Abram A., 92, of Harleysville, Montgomery Co., PA died January 9, 2017 at Lansdale, Montgomery Co., PA. He was born April 3, 1924 at Harleysville to Elias N. and Sallie M. (Alderfer) Landis. On _April 8, 1944 he was married to Grace W. Delp, who was born August 2, 1925 and died April 2, 2013.
Surviving are, a daughter, Barbara Miller, a son, Timothy D. Landis and wife Norma; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Betty Landes and husband Royden; Kathryn Landis; Mary Jane Bergey and
husband Robert; Ruth Ruth and husband John; and James Landis and wife Beverly.
A son, Philip D. Landis, three sisters, Emma Landis, Doris Landis, and Susan Souder, and three brothers, Curtis Landis, Melvin Landis and Elias Landis Jr.; preceded him in death.
Memorial services were held January 15, 2017 at Salford Mennonite Church, Harleysville, PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Landis, Doris M. Halteman, 88, of Telford, PA died May 25, 2017 at Grandview Hospital. She was born March 23, 1928 at Franconia Township to Abram A. and Jennie (Becker) Halteman.
On March 28, 1948 she was married to Henry F. Landis, who is deceased. They had celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.
Surviving are two sons, Larry and Beverly Landis, and Glen and Laureen Landis; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Arlan Halteman, and Merrill and Dorothy Halteman.
Memorial services were held March 1, 2017 at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, Blooming Glen, PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Landis, J. Omar, 82, of Lititz, and formerly of Manheim Township, and Sarasota, FL, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Landis Homes Retirement Community. Born in Manheim Township, he was the son of the late Harry C. and Mary Witmer Landis. Omar was the loving husband of Henriette R. Grenier Landis, and they would have observed their 25th wedding anniversary in February of this year. Omar was a member of Lancaster Alliance Church and Bahia Vista Mennonite Church in Sarasota, FL.
Throughout his life Omar had a deep love for auctioneering, and at the early age of 13, Omar sold his very first auction item. In 1955 he founded J. Omar Landis Auction Service and he conducted public auctions in 15 states and Canada and the greater Tri-State area for over 60 years. For over 52 years Omar has been the owner and operator of Garden Spot Auto Auction.
In 1977, he also formed the Gulf Coast Auto Auction located in Bradenton, FL. Omar was also the owner and operator of Dutchland Collector Car Auction. Nationally Omar was known for starting the very first classic car auction in the United States. Omar was a lifetime member of the National Auto Auction Association and served as its president from 1990 to 1991.
In 2014, Omar was inducted into the National Auto Auction Association Hall of Fame. He was also a lifetime member of the PA Auctioneers Association, a member and past president of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Auction Association, and a member and past president of the Eastern Auto Auction Association. Omar served for 8 years on the Pennsylvania Auctioneering Examiners Board which was a Pennsylvania Governor appointment. For 11 years, Omar served on the board for Messiah College.
During his lifetime Omar donated his time and talents working tirelessly conducting charity and fundraising auctions for many non-profit organizations as well as for private and public schools and churches in Pennsylvania and Florida. Omar simply loved people from all walks of life. He took the time to listen to their stories and truly cared for others. His engaging personality made the auctions he conducted memorable and fun for the people that attended and watched a master that truly knew his craft.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Henriette, are two daughters, Diane wife of Chip Wilson of Lititz, Bobbe wife of Barry Sauder of Manheim; a son, James O. husband of Sharon K. Landis of East Petersburg; two stepdaughters, Deborah wife of Keith Dennis of Sarasota, FL, Pamela Harvey of Sarasota, FL; seven granddaughters; seven-great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren, and three sisters, Esther Lefever of Lititz, Theda Siegrist of Manheim, and Joyce Delp of Lititz. Preceding him in death is his first wife, Irene Bear Landis; a sister, Margie Siegrist, and a step grandson, Daniel Dennis.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Omar's Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving at the Lancaster Alliance Church, 210 Pitney Road, Lancaster, on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 10:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the church on Sunday afternoon from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with additional viewing time on Monday morning at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Lapp, Ann Marie Beiler, of Dundee, NY went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY from complications from a brain tumor.
Friends are invited to calling hours from 3:00 - 5:00 & 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Friday (Sept 22) at Crystal Valley Mennonite Church, 2420 State Rte. 230, Dundee, NY; where her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday (Sept. 23). Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Ann was born February 28, 1961 in Lancaster, PA, the daughter of Alvin and Malinda Beiler of Gordonville, PA. She was a member of Crystal Valley Mennonite Church, Dundee, NY; she was very generous and hospitable to everyone; her four grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a praying mom and grandma and was a blessing to many people in the community.
She is loved and will be forever missed by her husband Mel Lapp; her sons Matthew (Gina) Lapp, Austin (Stephanie) Lapp, Jesse Lapp and daughters Gina (Dustin) Graber and Kaylie (Chad) Stoltzfus, 4 grandchildren, Logan, Alliana, Bryce, and Winston; her parents, 3 brothers, a sister, many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Layman, Lorene Keller, 92, of Dayton, passed away Friday, Oct, 20, 2017, at her residence. Mrs. Layman was born Feb. 14, 1925, in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late William Luther and Sallie Elizabeth (Simmers) Keller.
She was a homemaker. Lorene was a longtime member of Dayton Mennonite Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and most especially making comfort tops for the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).
On May 5, 1949, she married Ralph Layman, who preceded her in death in 2011.
Mrs. Layman is survived by a son, Eldon Layman of Dayton; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Layman of Florida; two grandchildren, Cheri Beatty and Stacey Beatty; one great-grandson, Liam Joseph Beatty; one special nephew, Jim Keller, and numerous other nieces and nephews and many special friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Layman was preceded in death by a son, Nelson Layman; a daughter-in-law, Pauline Layman, and her siblings, Harry Franklin Keller, Warren William Keller, Nellie Virginia Early, Mary Evangeline Showalter, Lelia Fern Eberly, and Orpha Ruth Keller.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, at 7 p.m. at the Dayton Mennonite Church with Pastor Willard Eberly and the Leadership Team officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Bank Mennonite Church with Pastor Phil Kanagy officiating.
There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. However, friends may call the funeral home on Monday until 7 p.m.

Leatherman, Clarence D., 90, of Sellersville, PA died September 4, 2017 at Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was born March 4,1927. He was married to Irene Rice, who survives.
Surviving are daughters: Carolyn Leatherman ,Goshen, IN; Bernice Delp, husband, Michael of Ottsville, PA; Elaine Hooley, husband James of Wayland, IA; Rachel Schwertz. husband Kahlil of Goshen,IN; Evelyn zum Felde, husband Roger, of Goshen, IN. son: Clyde & wife Tammy of Perkasie, PA; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren.

Clarence D. Leatherman, 90, of Sellersville, passed away on Mon., Sep. 4, 2017 at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest. He was the loving husband of Irene R. (Rice) Leatherman.
Born in Plumstead Twp., Bucks County, he was a son of the late Jacob G. and Bessie (Detweiler) Leatherman.
Early in life Clarence worked on the family dairy farm. In 1975 he began working as custodian for the Central Bucks School District, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of Deep Run Mennonite Church East in Perkasie, where he was a former member of the cemetery committee and Board of Trustees. He was also a former member of the Farm Bureau.
Surviving with Irene are his children: Carolyn Leatherman of Goshen, IN; Bernice Delp, husband Michael of Ottsville; Clyde Leatherman, wife Tammy of Perkasie; Elaine Hooley, husband James of Wayland, IA; Rachel Schertz, husband Kahlil and Evelyn zum Felde, husband Roger, all of Goshen, IN; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Delp; sisters, Kathryn Moyer and Alverda Rice; and a brother, Abram Leatherman.
Funeral service will be held at 3:30 PM Sun., Sep. 10 in Deep Run Mennonite Church East, 350 Kellers Church Rd., Perkasie, PA 18944 with a viewing beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment in the church cemetery.
Lefever, Abram T., 93, of Landis Homes, Lititz, died peacefully at his home on January 24, 2017. He was the husband of Ruth (Myer) Lefever and they had celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on June 2, 2016.
Born in Marticville on October 16, 1923, he was the son of the late Jacob F. and Katie Thomas Lefever. Abram was a faithful member of Meckville Mennonite Church, Bethel. A farmer most of his life, Abram moved to a Lebanon County dairy farm in 1960, where he and Ruth lived until retiring to Landis Homes in 2009. He regularly served as a volunteer helping others and was an avid deer hunter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Mary Lou wife of Clayton Reed of Bourbon, IN, A. Ronald Lefever of Jonestown, Carol Lefever wife of Jay Hershey of Jonestown, Yvonne Lefever wife of Andrew Hershey of Paradise, and David M.O. husband of Katrina Oberholtzer Lefever of Akron; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters Elsie Lefever Sangrey & Ruth Lefever Mellinger, his twin brother Jacob F. and brother Robert T. Lefever.
A viewing will be held Monday January 30, 2017 from 1-3 p.m. at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory; Rt. 72 & Camp Meeting Rd. Jonestown, PA 17038. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. A memorial service with meal to follow will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Landis Homes Chapel, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz visitation will be from 10 – 11 a.m. at the home.
Lefever, Harry Groff (Dr.), 85, long-time resident of Atlanta's Candler Park neighborhood, died Feb. 3, 2017, at home in Athens, GA. Dr. Lefever enjoyed a long life studying, teaching, and writing about civil rights and sociology at Spelman College in Atlanta.
He was born Dec. 7, 1931, in Lancaster, PA, and studied at Lancaster Mennonite High School before going on to earn a B.A. from Eastern Mennonite College (now University) in Harrisonburg, VA, an M.A. from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. from Emory University in Atlanta. He taught at Eastern Mennonite College from 1963 until 1966. He served as professor of sociology at Spelman College from 1966 to 2003, when he was awarded the rank of Professor Emeritus. Due to his love for teaching and the academic environment, he continued to teach at Spelman part time until 2009.
He married Esther Peachey on June 10, 1954. In 1956 they traveled to Vietnam with a team from the Mennonite Central Committee. There they worked with a medical team and organized work camps and seminars with Saigon University students until 1959. Dr. Lefever continued to travel throughout his life, visiting India in 1981 to study the history of India and the development and influences of religion. He lived in Tortuguero, Costa Rica, for nine months gathering information and recording oral histories for his first book, "Turtle Bogue". Other travels took him to Japan, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Burma, India, the Middle East, and Europe. He also traveled to Nicaragua, the islands of San Andres and Providencia in the western Caribbean. His interest in the Civil Rights Movement and its impact on the city of Atlanta led to two more books, "Undaunted by the Fight" and "Sacred Places".
He was a dedicated professional who cared about investing in his community and making the world a better place. Committed to living simply and conscientiously, he was involved in many social issues, including serving as a leader in the Candler Park Neighborhood effort to prevent a freeway from dividing the community. His concerns extended beyond his own community, and he contributed to a variety of charitable funds to help the less fortunate in other parts of the world. He was a caring father and grandfather, and he will be missed.
He is survived by brother Paul G. Lefever, sister Ana Hershey, sister Alma Weaver, and his children, Kristina, Carla, Erika and Dimitri Lefever, as well as his three grandchildren.
Dr. Lefever was a long-time member of Atlanta Friends Meeting. A memorial service will take place at the Atlanta Friends Meeting on March 11 at 4pm. LeFever, Miriam Elizabeth Blank of East Petersburg, went home to be with her Lord Wednesday March 15 [2017]. Miriam's faith was apparent through her many years volunteering in service for others. She was a member of East Petersburg Mennonite Church where she taught in Sunday School and in summer Bible School and the Sewing Circle where she also served as president.
She was born on February 24, 1921 in Upper Leacock Twp. to Elam Beiler and Mira Kauffman Shenk Blank. She was the first of five children. She graduated from East Lampeter High School in 1939, and enjoyed serving as alumni secretary for eight years in the 1980's.
Miriam married Lloyd K LeFever March 31, 1945. He preceded her in death February 14, 2009 after nearly 64 years of marriage. They had traveled in all of the lower 48 States, and all of the bordering Canadian Provinces.
After Lloyd finished four years in Civilian Public Service they settled in East Petersburg where she served as a 4H Club leader for several years. Under Lancaster Mennonite Conference she served the Associated Sewing Circles, four years as vice president and four years as President. In 1964 as part of a study/planning committee in the interest of girls' work, Miriam served as the first secretary of JGA's (Junior Girls Activities).
As a charter member of the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society she was the first woman to serve on that Board, and volunteered for many years including the Bookworm Frolic and book auctions. As a Foundation member of the Hans Herr House she served for many years in various capacities.
Miriam served as a summer cook at Camp Hebron, Halifax, and at Camp Black Rock, Quarryville. At Black Rock she became involved in the Women's Auxiliary serving on numerous committees including Ways and Means. Miriam and her friend Arlene Hess co-edited Black Rock's "Family Favorites" cookbook in 1976.
Miriam was a charter member of the East Petersburg Historical Society and recently served as chairman of the program committee.
Her deepest joy was working with the Mennonite Central Committee, based in Akron. Beginning in the 1960's, she served one day a week at MRC (material resource center) and since then at Re-Uzit Shops, first in New Holland until 1976, and then in Mount Joy where she served as secretary, supervisor and pricer until 2016.
Her hobbies included: reading, sewing, travel, Scrabble, jigsaw & crossword puzzles, and she enjoyed collecting colored glass, especially blue depression ware.
She will be missed by her son Kenn married to Carolyn Ruth Packer LeFever, of Manheim; grandson Kenneth Lloyd Jr. married to Rebecca Norris LeFever; three great grandchildren Kurtis Aleksandr, Daniel Justis, and Elizabeth Izella LeFever, of Lancaster. She is also survived by a brother David E., husband of Joanne Blank, of Landisville; and loving and caring nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death is a brother Mervin E. Blank and two sisters: Gladys Leiby, and Verna Mowrer.

Lefever, Ruth Myer, 93, of Landis Homes, Lititz, died peacefully at her home on May 31, 2017. She was the wife of Abram T. Lefever, who died in January. They would have celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on June 2.
Born in Bird-in-Hand on June 20, 1923, she was the daughter of Ira and Nettie (Landis) Myer. She was a faithful member of Meckville Mennonite Church, Bethel. A homemaker, Ruth moved to a Lebanon County dairy farm in 1960, where she and Abe lived until retiring to Landis Homes in 2009. She served as a volunteer at the Jubilee thrift store in Lebanon for decades. She also opened up her home several times as a halfway house for struggling women. Reading, writing and gardening were some of her favorite activities.
She is survived by five children, Mary Lou, wife of Clayton Reed of Bourbon, IN, A. Ronald of Jonestown, Carol, wife of Jay Hershey of Jonestown, Yvonne, wife of Andrew Hershey of Paradise, and David, husband of Katrina Oberholtzer Lefever of Akron; ten grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Floyd Myer of Leola.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Willard Myer, Miriam Hoover, Landis Myer, Ethel Sauder, Reba Nauman, Martha Myer, Elma Kreider, Elizabeth Myer (stillborn), Caleb Myer and Glenn Myer.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 5 at 7 p.m. at Landis Homes, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, PA 17543, with visitation from 5-6:30 p.m. The viewing and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Lehman, Areta Graber, 94, of Goshen, died Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born August 21, 1922 in Wayland, Iowa to Christian L. and Mina (Roth) Graber.
In 1946 she was married to Earl S. Lehman in Goshen by her father, C.L. Graber. Earl died in 1992. She married Galen Johns in 2010. He died in 2013.
Survivors include a daughter, Esther L. Kawira of Sharati, Tanzania; three sons, Joseph C. (Anna) Lehman of Goshen, Benjamin Lehman of South Bend, and Jonathan (Irene “Reni”) Lehman of Goshen; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two sisters, Lucille (Harold) Swartzendruber of Goshen and Lois (Byron) Bender of Honolulu.
Along with her parents and both husbands, she was also preceded in death by a son, Samuel E. Lehman; a son-in-law, Josiah Kawira; two sisters, Mildred (Edward) Stoltzfus and Gladys (Clayton) Byler; a brother, Richard Graber; and her brothers-in-law Harold Swartzentruber and Clayton Byler.
A lifetime area resident, Areta graduated from Goshen High School and from Goshen College in 1944 with a degree in Education. Along with Earl, she served at Mennonite Home Mission in Chicago from 1946-1949. On returning to Goshen, she taught primary school in Wakarusa, Junior High Art in Goshen, and did substitute teaching in the Goshen School System, alongside fulltime homemaking. Later in life she was a teacher at Clinton Christian Day School, followed by being a Parkside School classroom aide. Her greatest joy was watching children learn.
She was an active member of College Mennonite Church, involved in children’s education and sewing circle for years.
She had a wide variety of interests throughout her life. She played piano and violin. She gardened and preserved food. She was a naturalist and an avid bird watcher, and taught local schoolchildren about birds with her nest collection. She enjoyed water color painting, and designed and executed beautiful quilts, wall hangings, and braided rugs, some as donations to Mennonite Relief Sale.
When in her 50’s she and her daughter, Esther, biked through Holland and Denmark. Later she traveled multiple times to Tanzania to live with Esther and her family and to home school her grandchildren. She also visited Marshall Islands, when Joe’s family lived there.
Areta was a foster parent, and hosted, befriended, and mentored many foreign students of Goshen College. She also volunteered with the Laubach Adult Literacy program.
Friends may call Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Gathering Room at College Mennonite Church where an 11 a.m. memorial service will be conducted. Pastors Phil Waite and Pamela Yoder will officiate.
Her body was donated to medical science.

Lehman, Areta Graber, 94, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN died May 20, 2017 at the same place. She was born August 21, 1922 at Wayland, IA to Christian L. and Mina (Roth) Graber.
On March 9 1946 at Goshen she was married to Earl S. Lehman, who was born February 20, 1921 and died May 27, 1992. She married Galen Johns in 2010. He died in 2013.
Surviving are children, Esther Kawira, Joseph (Anna) Lehman, Benjamin Lehman, and Jonathan (Irene "Reni") Lehman; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two sisters, Lucille Swartzendruber, and Lois (Byron) Bender.
A son, Samuel Lehman; two sisters, Mildred Stoltzfus, and Gladys Beyler, and a brother, Richard Graber preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held June 3, 2017 at College Mennonite Church, Goshen. Her body was donated to medical science.
Lehman, Emmett R., 82, of Holtwood, Pa., formerly of Greencastle, died Tuesday morning, May 23, 2017. Born in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Victor H. and Edith B. Horst Lehman. He was the husband of Eunice C. Hurst Lehman for 60 years on June 16, 2016.

Lehman Jr., husband of Jody (Petticoffer) Lehman, Douglas P. Lehman, husband of Nicole M. (Camplese) Lehman, Dirksen J. Lehman, husband of April D. (McKinney) Lehman, Anne L. Lehman Dillman, wife of Bradley J. Dillman, Patrick C. Lehman, husband of Melody A. (Habecker) Lehman, and Theodore H. Lehman, husband of Amy E. (Sauder) Lehman; 24 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Leo C. Lehman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Lehman.
Ever the student, he was a man of faith and family. His mission was to finish his race a good and faithful servant, and to maintain always fidelity to his commitments as a husband to his wife and father to his daughters and sons. He succeeded. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning, May 30, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Willow Street Mennonite Church, 399 E. Penn Grant Road, Willow Street, Pa., with the Rev. Marvin L. Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Lehman, Harold Eugene, age 84, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton, Ohio, where he resided since December 2014.
Harold was born August 6, 1932 in Lancaster County, PA to Daniel and Ada (Hossler) Lehman who preceded him in death. On February 3, 1954, he married Beulah (Kinsey) Lehman who died August 5, 1998. On November 18, 2000, he married Bonnie (Krantz) Lehman who survives.
Harold was a dearly loved brother, husband, Daddy, uncle, Grandpa, Great Grandpa and friend. He worked as a farmer as well as a cost estimator at Air Preheater Company in Wellsville, NY. Following his retirement he traveled the region to sell and install Taylor furnaces. Harold loved Jesus and enjoyed people; often engaging with singing and story telling that he incorporated into his various roles as Sunday School worship leader and Bible School superintendent. He delighted in playing with and interacting with children, doing tricks to teach a moral or lesson, working with his children on the farm and in the garden. Many children and youth spent time in the Lehman home in foster care. Harold recorded memories of his growing-up years and the years of raising a family in his two-book series titled Gold Earrings.
Harold is survived by eleven children: Vernon Lehman (wife Mary) of Cuba, NY; Louise Matthews (husband Lawrence) of Bluffton, Elaine Zello (husband Jim) of Canon City, CO, Wayne Lehman (wife Vicki) of Westfield, PA; Anita Eastlack (husband Karl) of Allentown, PA, Eugene Lehman of Fennville, MI; Mervin Lehman of Knoxville, TN; Alma Thompson (husband Brent) of Columbus, OH, Daryl Lehman (wife Virginia) of Jamestown, NY; Pauletta Schenck (husband Roger) of Landis, NC and Paul Lehman (wife Renee) of Buffalo Junction, VA; as well as 43 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Four siblings also survive: John Lehman (wife Elizabeth) of Westfield, PA; Betty Gerlach of Manheim, Verna Habecker (husband Chet) of Lititz, PA and Leroy Lehman (wife Nancy) of Manheim, PA. Harold is also survived by his wife, Bonnie Krantz Lehman, as well as three stepsons: Tim Krantz (wife Kim), Jeff Krantz (wife April), and Mike Krantz, as well as eight stepgrandchildren, all of Clarence Center, NY.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beulah, son Glenn Lehman, and siblings Marlin Lehman and Mildred Pott.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15 at Yorks Corners Mennonite Church, 3350 Co Rd. 29, Wellsville, NY 14895. Burial will be at Yorks Corners Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4:00 p.m. and 7-9:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14 at Embser Funeral Home at 34 West State Street in Wellsville, NY, 14895 and one hour before the funeral at the church.

Lehman, Margaret F. Swope

GOSHEN — Margaret F. Lehman, 99, died at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Greencroft Health Care, Goshen.
She was born March 7, 1918, in Columbiana, Ohio, to Emanuel J. and Maggie F. Swope.
On June 10, 1944, she married John E. Lehman of North Lima, Ohio.
She is survived by her children, Thomas (Mary) of South Bend, Mary Ann Wieand (Jon) of Goshen, Rebecca Gascho (Luke) of Goshen and David (Bonnie) of Mechanicsville, Virginia.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, to whom she was married for 70 years; nine brothers, Ira, John, Oliver, Herman, Joseph, Paul, Emanuel, Roy, and Cleo; and two sisters, Mary Steiner and Nannie Lehman.
Mrs. Lehman was an elementary school teacher for eight years at North Lima School in North Lima, Ohio, and for 14 years at Monger School in Elkhart.
She served with John for two years in Ethiopia and six years in Puerto Rico, under the Mennonite Church. She was a member of Prairie Street Mennonite Church in Elkhart, for many years, where she had taught Sunday and Bible school.
She was a 1944 graduate of Goshen College and was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association and the National Retired Teachers Association.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 6, at the Metzler Meeting House, 1225 Greencroft Drive, Goshen. The funeral will follow at the same location. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Prairie Street Mennonite Church or Mennonite Mission Network. Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.

Lehman, Mervin Glen
April 15, 1941 - July 31, 2017
GOSHEN - Mervin Glen Lehman, 76, of Goshen, died Monday, July 31, 2017, at Goshen Health Hospital.
He was born April 15, 1941, in LaGrange County, to Perry J. and Amanda (Miller) Lehman.
On Dec. 14, 1961, he married Lizzie Ann Hostetler; she survives.
Survivors also are daughters Inez Fern (Devon) Hochstetler and Ruth Etta (James) Raber; sons Ernest Dean (Mary) and DeVon Ray (Brenda) Lehman; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters Irene Wingard, Ruby Yoder and Wilma (Wilbur) Lambright.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Miranda Lehman; and two brothers-in-law, Olen Wingard and Felty Yoder.
Visitation will be all day Wednesday, Aug. 2, at the family residence, 11533 C.R. 30, Goshen. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, also at the family residence. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery, Goshen.

Lehman, Pauline Camilla Peachey, 87, died on March 22, 2017, at the home of Steve and Maria Hostetter, Harrisonburg, Va. Born Jan. 28, 1930, in Menno Township, Mifflin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late David E. Peachey and Lina Kanagy Peachey. On Sept. 27, 1952, she married Mark N. Lehman, who survives.
Pauline graduated from Eastern Mennonite School in 1947 with a high school diploma and from Eastern Mennonite College with a bachelor of science in elementary education in 1953. She used her writing skills in various ways to write stories of the family and church such as: “Grandpapa’s Girls,” “Tell Me a Story One Time You Did,” “The Larks, On the Go For God,” Bible lessons, and poetry. She taught at Belleville Mennonite School and Pembroke Township Schools, where she also served as librarian. Pauline served in ministry with her husband, Mark, in St. Anne, Ill., Sterling, Ill., and Harrisonburg, Va.
In addition to her husband, Mark, she is survived by her children, Michael Lehman of Lacey Spring, Va., Christine van den Assem and husband, Antoine, of Edelsfeld, Germany, David Lehman and wife, Lavonne, of Toano, Va., and Maria Hostetter and husband, Steve, of Harrisonburg; grandchildren, Ashley Lehman, Amy Lehman, Chad Lehman, Jonathan van den Assem (Bekki), Mark van den Assem (Amity), Shekinah Fuchs (Hans), Pauline Schweiger (Martin), Anthony van den Assem, Peter Lehman (Kim), Renee Moyer (Sam), Jessica Hostetter, and Malia Cobb (Brandon); six great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruby Hostetler and husband, Floyd, of Belleville, Pa.
Pauline was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn E. Peachey and David E. Peachey; one sister, Jean E. Peachey; and daughter-in-law, Sharon A. Lehman.
Services for Pauline will be held in Harrisonburg Saturday, March 25. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at Immanuel Mennonite Church. The memorial service and reception will follow at 2 p.m. There will be a private graveside burial for family at Weavers Mennonite Church cemetery.

Lehman, Richard C., 78, passed away Thursday evening, December 14, 2017 at Menno Haven. Born March 12, 1939 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Clayton F. and Esther Witmer Lehman.
He was a 1957 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and retired from Office Suppliers after 27 years of service. Earlier in his life he had worked at Martin's Food Market in Maugansville, MD where he was the Deli Manager. He was a member of Mt. Zion Mennonite Church in Boonsboro, MD where he had served as an Elder and as the Music Director. He served on the Cumberland Valley Relief Center Board and the Franklin Mennonite Conference Mission Board. Mr. Lehman volunteered for eight years at Camp Gilead in Polk City, FL; served with Mennonite Disaster Services; and was a delegate to Eastern Mennonite Missions. He had a love for music and served as Assistant Director of the King's Troubadours and sang with the Gospel Tide Choir as well as several other choirs and quartets.
Mr. and Mrs. Lehman were foster parents for many years. His hobbies included woodworking, singing, reading, and birding.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Russell Lehman, whom he married April 17, 1960; four children, Joyce Peckman (Emerson) of Chambersburg, R. Michael Lehman (Marjorie) of Lancaster, Mary Martin (fiancé Ronnie Lydard, Sr.) of Hagerstown, MD, and Lisa Griffith (Douglas) of Winter Garden, FL; fourteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Wilmer Lehman (Miriam) of Willow Hill, and Verna Martin of Denver, PA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Lehman; and three sisters, Elva Ruth Frey, Pauline Martin, and Catherine Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, December 18, 2017 at Mt. Zion Mennonite Church, Boonsboro, MD. Pastor Craig Oury, Pastor Larry Lehman, and Pastor Roger Martin will officiate. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-6 PM Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Thomas L. Lehman, Samuel P., 85, of Manheim, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Conestoga View, Lancaster. Born in Rapho Township, he was the son of the late Samuel S. and Amelia Pierce Lehman. Sam was the loving husband of the late Verna M. Huber Lehman who died in March of 2004. In his early years Sam worked on farms in Lancaster County. A self-taught carpenter, Sam built several homes including his own home and worked on many construction projects with his father. In his later years Sam was the owner and operator of Lehman Trucking assisting in construction and demolition projects as well as working in salvaging and restoration with the Sylvan Brandt Company in Lititz. He was a member of Grace Community Fellowship, Manheim. His interests included, hunting, traveling to the family cabin in Union County and was a registered dog breeder through the American Kennel Club.
Surviving are two daughters: L. Jean wife of Cletus Balmer of Manheim, Carol A. wife of Stanton Grube of Lititz, three sons: Samuel L. Lehman of Manheim, Ray M. Lehman of Lancaster, Glenn L. husband of Tricia Lehman of Lititz, ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and four sisters: Mary wife of Henry Nolt of Lititz, Martha wife of Martin Zimmerman of New Holland, LaVerna wife of Robert Hill of Manheim, and Lorraine Martin of Manheim. Preceding him in death is a daughter, Mildred Elaine Lehman, two brothers: Paul and David Lehman, and two sisters: Esther Ginder, and Grace Frey.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Sam's funeral service at Grace Community Fellowship, 1483 North Colebrook Road, Manheim, on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery.
Leichty, Lowell John, 85, of Coralville, IA died November 20, 2017 at Cedar Rapids, Linn Co., Iowa. He was born September 9, 1932 at to Willard and Ruth (Augsburger) Leichty. On october 10, 1954 he was married to Ruth Earnest, who is deceased.
Surviving are children, Greg and Kathy Leichty; Phil and Kim Leichty; Kathy and Loren Sands; Ruth and Brad Giesking; and Mark and Kristen Leichty; 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and siblings, Norman Leichty, Marilyn Roth, Wilma Lichti, and Linda Williams.
A brother, Daniel Leichty preceded him in death.
Memorial services were held December 2, 2017 at First Mennonite Church of Iowa City, Iowa City, Johnson Co., IA, with burial in First Mennonite Columbarium, Iowa City, IA.
Lentz, Ralph E., 72, of Elizabethtown, PA, peacefully entered the courts of God with singing and praise on Sunday evening, April 9, 2017 at his residence. Born in Conewago Twp., Dauphin County, he was the son of the late Lester S. and Elva M. Gantz Lentz. He was the husband of Miriam J. Frey Lentz for 52 years on June 28.
Ralph was a lifelong member of Elizabethtown Mennonite Church where he was a dedicated usher. He was a 1962 graduate of Hershey High School and retired from Red Rose Transit after 26 years as a bus driver. Ralph competed in bus roadeos, taking 3rd place in the PA Regional Roadeo in 1994, 2nd place in the 1995 PAMTA Statewide Roadeo, and competing the same year in the International Roadeo in San Antonio, TX. In addition to collecting coins and seashells, he enjoyed traveling and flower gardening.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Lester E., husband of Kristin Morley Lentz, of Lancaster, Rita F., wife of Delmar Wenger, of Lancaster, Wanda J., wife of Jeff Sipe, of Middletown, and Jennifer L., wife of Robert Bender, Jr., of Elizabethtown; eight grandchildren, Anthony (Brandi) Wenger, Ashley Wenger, Audrey (Mike) Burkholder, Cory Lentz, Cheyenne Bender, John Robert Bender, Benjamin Lentz, and Abigail Lentz; a sister, Anna Jean Dorwart of Elizabethtown; a sister-in-law, Ruth Westenberger Lentz of Lititz. He was looking forward to his first great-grandchild to be born this summer.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Elizabethtown Mennonite Church, 300 South Spruce Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Lichti, Evelyn K. Stutzman
Jan. 30, 1922 - June 14, 2017
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. - Evelyn K. Lichti, 95, passed away peacefully June 14, 2017, in Hot Springs Village.
She was born Jan. 30, 1922, to Peter and Alma Stutzman in Milford, Nebraska.
Evelyn married Floyd Lichti on July 7, 1940. Floyd passed away in February 1989.
She was preceded her in death by her parents and sister, Ruth Schrock.
She is survived by daughter, Sherry (Larry) Piper of Hot Springs Village, and son Timothy (Carolyn) Lichti of Goshen.
She is also survived by four grandsons, eight great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Evelyn and Floyd were best known for their warm hospitality to visitors to their home and church in California.
A celebration of her life was at Christ of the Hills Methodist Church in Hot Springs Village, on June 23.
The family will greet friends and family during a visitation at College Mennonite Church Koinonia Rooms, from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 29.
Litton, Ross, 85, of Whitewater, Butler Co., KS died August 24, 2017 at the same place. He was born January 8, 1932 at Wichita, Sedgwick Co., KS to Ray Wilson and Lois (Ross) Litton. On March 1, 1953 at Furley, KS he was married to Emma Mae Stuart, who survives.
Surviving are children, Ron Litton, Cheryl Klassen, and Diana Morgan.
Memorial services were held August 31, 2017 at Grace Hill Mennonite Church, Whitewater, KS with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Litwiller, Floyd R., 89, of Hopedale, IL died August 18, 2017 at the same place. He was born September 22, 1927 at Delavan, IL to Christian C. and Emma (Zehr) Litwiller . On May 24, 1952 at Morrison, IL he was married to Lona Deter, who survives/is deceased.
Surviving are children, Richard (Cynthia) Litwiller; Kenneth (Laura) Litwiller; Brian (Cynthia) Litwiller; and Christina Litwiller; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and siblings, Delora Birkey, Evelyn Good, LaVern Petersen, Ruth Mark, and Judith Muzzy.
A granddaughter, Esther Litwiller and three sisters, Linda Litwiller (infant), Carolyn Welch, and Beverly Burmeister, preceded him in death.
Floyd graduated from Hopedale High School and took several Bible classes at Goshen College where he met Lona. The two of them served as missionaries in Puerto Rico for the first two years of their marriage. He then farmed in the Hopedale and Delavan area from 1955 to 2004. He was a member of Tazewell County Farm Bureau.
Floyd was baptized at Hopedale Mennonite Church in 1941. He was a member of Midway Mennonite Church for 33 years before returning to Hopedale Mennonite. He was a member of Gideon's International for over 30 years and served at Logan County Correctional Center Prison Ministry for over 19 years.
Memorial services were held August 22, 2017 at Hopedale Mennonite Church, Hopedale, IL with burial in Mennonite Cemetery, Hopedale, IL.
Long, Gary L., 60, of Mount Joy, PA died January 11, 2017 at Elizabethtown, Lancaster Co., PA, due to complications from multiple sclerosis. He was born August 27, 1956 at Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA to Howard M. and Betty Jane (Swisher) Long. On July 2, 1983 he was married to Kristine L. Sshumm, who survives.
Surviving are a son, Jason (Kristen) Long and a daughter, Heidi (Caleb) Jablonski; one grandchild, his mother, and three brothers, Glen (Cathy) Long; Galen Long; and Gordon (Tracy) Long.
His father preceded him in death.
Memorial services were held January 14, 2017 at Forest Hills Mennonite Church, Leola, Lancaster Co., PA. Body was donated for multiple scherosis research.
Longenecker, Ruth M., age 98 of Elizabethtown, PA passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Landis Homes, Lititz, PA. Ruth was born to the late Henry R. Longenecker and Fannie M. Longenecker on October 4, 1918. She was predeceased by her brother, Ray M. Longenecker, and sister-in-law, Ruth M. Longenecker. Surviving are her nieces, Marian L. Beaman, Janice L. Caverly both of Jacksonville, Florida, Jean L. Fairfield of North Wales, PA and a nephew, Mark M. Longenecker, Elizabethtown, PA.
Ruth graduated from Elizabethtown High School at age 16 in 1935, and earned a teaching certificate from Eastern Mennonite School, Harrisonburg, VA in 1937. In 1941, she received a Bachelor's Degree from Elizabethtown College. Ruth received a master's degree in education from the University of PA at Millersville in 1969. She continued education at the Lancaster School of Business.
The instructor said at the finish of her studies at the Lancaster Business School, "Now you can keep your father's books." And so, she did. Ruth was the business accountant for Longenecker Farm Supply in Rheems. The company was owned by her father and brother. For 8 years, she served as the West Donegal Township tax collector.
She taught 8 grades in the county for 10 years before finishing her 35-year teaching career at Rheems Elementary School as both teacher & principal. Ruth retired from teaching in 1972. She retired a second time in 1995 from 23 years as a clerk at Zarfoss Hardware store in Elizabethtown.
When Ruth was 16, she began teaching Sunday School at the new Marietta Mission and later as an adult Sunday School teacher at Bossler Mennonite Church for many years. She also taught summer Vacation Bible School at Marietta, Elizabethtown, Steelton and Bossler churches. Ruth served 35 years as the Bossler Church treasurer and was a charter member of the Stewardship Committee. Ruth also served as the Publicity Secretary for Camp Hebron, Halifax, PA. She created lovely bulletin board displays for residents at The Mennonite Home and volunteered as cashier at MCC International Gift & Thrift Shop in Mt. Joy.
Ruth began her partnership with Lutheran Immigration Refugee Service in 1975, offering her home as a haven for numerous refugees including Phuong Ho Le who remained in her home for 6 years until she married. Ruth won the "Salt of the Earth" award in 1996 and was "an absolute godsend to our resettlement efforts."
She loved to garden and up until age 90 could be seen on top a riding mower cutting her large lawn. On many occasions people stopped by to chat & admire her lovely flower gardens. She played the piano and especially enjoyed playing for residents at the Rheems Nursing Home.
From the book of Proverbs, "She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy," was her life's guiding light. Ruth will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
The funeral service will be held at Bossler Mennonite Church on Saturday, May 20 at 11:00 AM. The family will be greeting relatives and friends from 9:45 to 11:00 before the service.

LOWVILLE – Elton A. Lyndaker, 86, of West State Street passed away Monday afternoon at Faxton-St. Luke’s Hospital, Utica.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marlene; two children and their spouses, Rene E. and Susan Lyndaker of Lowville; Todd A. and Pamela Lyndaker of Groton, NY; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward Lyndaker of Lowville, Olin and Mary Lyndaker of Copenhagen, Harvey and Jan Lyndaker of Middleport, NY, Robert Lyndaker of Copenhagen, Carl and Tammy Lyndaker of Lowville, Pauline Lyndaker of Lowville; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Arletha and Richard Bellinger of Lowville, Lois and Edward Clark of Greencove Springs, FL, Doris Grysikiewicz of Anaconda, Montana, Carolyn McNeil of Lowville, Charlotte and Gerald Millard of Lowville; seven grandchildren, Lyndsey Lyndaker Case (Jason), Sarah Lyndaker and fiance’ Chris Eisel, Justin Lyndaker, Isaac Lyndaker, Bradley Hart, Danielle (Josh) Levesque and Kylee Hart; six great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Cameryn, Marlee, Carter, Hadley, and Logan; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by a brother, Richard Lyndaker, a brother-in-law, Frank Grysikiewicz, a sister-in-law, Kathryn Lyndaker.
Mr. Lyndaker was born on September 11, 1931 in Watson, NY, a son of the late Alexander and Phyllis Edick Lyndaker. He graduated from Lowville Academy in 1949 and served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1953. On December 16, 1960, he married Marlene A. Zehr at First Mennonite Church, New Bremen with Rev. Donald Jantzi, officiating. Together with his wife, the couple owned and operated a dairy farm on Route 26, Lowville, from 1971-1988, when operation of the farm was taken over by their son and daughter-in-law, Rene and Susan Lyndaker.
Elton enjoyed going to the farm, riding motorcycle and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
